The Butternut Grove Campground is located on the Beaverkill, and has great fishing. Bernie, the owner, has kindly offered to host our picnic and allow us to fish when the festivities are over. The club will provide the food.
Please RSVP by June 21st to Jeannette at her email: jeanette30@comcast.net
so we have enough food for everyone. Don't miss the fun!
NOTE: The weekend of June 26, 27, 2010 is a NY 'Free Fishing" weekend, which means if you don't need a NY license to fish.
Free Fishing Days - from http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/6091.html
Each year, the last full weekend in June is designated as Free Fishing Days in New York State. During those two days, anyone can fish New York State waters, and no fishing license is required. This event started in 1991 to allow all people the opportunity to sample the incredible fishing New York State has to offer. Since no license is required, it is the perfect time to take a friend or relative fishing. In 2010, New York State's Free Fishing Days are Saturday and Sunday, June 26 & 27.
Sunday: Fishing Led by Christine
DATE: Sunday, June 27, 2010 (fishing lead by Christine)
TIME: 9:00 AM
END: TBD
Regarding Sunday - everyone meet back at Bernie's at 9 am. We'll figure out where to go from there. Will depend on water conditions that weekend whether we fish the Beaverkill or one of the tailwaters.
RE: flies. My guess is that folks should have some sulfurs - I like emergers and parachute patterns. Also Isonychia - again, emergers and parachutes. Blue winged olives are a must at any time of year in the Catskills - smaller is better - size 18s or 20s. Some rusty spinners are always handy - size 16 or 14? Terrestrials by that time will be useful - so bring a few black ants. Other than that, anyone's guess is as good as mine!

OK, Oz B&B I believe caters to the gay community, but Rick and Maureen Yaccino have stayed there and they said it's pretty nice. It's in Livingston Manor, so it's closer to the Willow than the Beaverkill.
