Somerset 2013

Attending the Somerset Show? Here's two great reasons to go.

Somerset Women’s Forum: for the first time ever at the Somerset Fly Fishing Show there is going to be an incredible gathering of professional women anglers and enthusiasts in a Women’s Forum. Panels of 5-7 professional women in the fly fishing industry will discuss new fishing lodges, world travel, retreats, angling, gear and much more. This is probably the greatest meeting ever of top women professional guides, fly clubs, authors, lodge owners and fly tiers. Each panel member will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves and distribute brochures/business cards. The floor will then be opened for questions and answers. It will be a fun fast one hour of networking. This is an incredible gathering of talent and expertise in each location. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a collective panel of women experts answer any questions you have ever had.  All levels of fishing experience welcome and we encourage audience participation.  This is going to be great fun!

Definitely a JWFF connection too. Our own President, Kelly Buchta is Co-Host, and Sam Decker and Marina Swartz will be on panels. Other notables include the following:

Tracey Stroup - Co Host - Kinesiologist
Wanda Taylor - Co Host - FFF MCI and TN Instructional Guiding
Rachel Finn - NY & AK Guide
Capt. Sarah Gardner - NC Guide
    Kiki Galvin - VA Guide
Mary Ward - Hope On The Rise - Retreats for women survivors of all types of cancer NH & VT (all states)
    Emily Whitlock - www.davewhitlock.com
Kate Fox- Casting For Recovery - Director of Communications and Development

The Women's Panel times have been posted on the flyfishingshow.com website. Times are as follows:

    Saturday, 1/26/13 @ 4:00 pm, Bernardsville room
    Sunday, 1/27/13 @ 3:00 pm, Westfield room.

Tracey Stroup has a monthly column in Mid-Atlantic Fly Fishing on fitness and injury prevention. She is teaming up with Wanda Taylor to offer a dynamite class titled “Queens of the Streams”, aimed toward preventing injuries, recovery, technique enhancement and building endurance on the water. This is a hands on class, and certainly not just for women. If you have ever felt tired just as the evening hatches are beginning, or found on the drive home that your shoulder was sore, this is the class for you. And if you already have a nagging injury, this is a good place to start your own recovery.

In addition to the women's panels there is a special class offered to ladies this year. Given our Club’s charter, this is a don’t miss event.
