Subject: Breaking Down the Big Water
Speaker: Jesse Filingo
Jesse was born and raised in northern Pennsylvania until the age of six, when his family moved to the tail water packed state of Tennessee. It is because of these two places that his childhood memories are focused largely on time spent in the outdoors. He's had the privilege of living in Missoula, Montana, where he graduated from the University of Montana - earning a degree in Environmental Studies.
Jesse started fly fishing at the age of seven, and fly tying by the age of eight. Very prominent in his young years is the time spent with his father chasing trout in various different south eastern tail waters. It is within these tail waters that his love for the art of fly fishing turned into what some would call a passion, and others would call an obsession. Fish haven't left Jesse's side since he started to build his life and career around his true desires.
Jesse explored many tail water and freestone streams submerged throughout eastern Tennessee and the surrounding states. His free time was spent on trips to the northeast, where he further explored his love for wild brook and brown trout fishing in freestone rivers. Jesse gained more knowledge during his time spent out west. Also gained in the west was his first competitive fly fishing opportunity; where he and his partner Tony Tomsu (founder of River Road Creation Foam Cutters) competed in the first ever collegiate level world fly fishing tournament in Cong, Ireland. Jesse's passion and commitment towards fly fishing continues to grow.
Not only is Jesse an experienced fly fishing guide and teacher, but has publications for several fly fishing magazines. Here, his knowledge is shown through many angles - from tactic pieces to specific destination pieces. His tours make you feel at home, while at the same time providing you with an overwhelming amount of knowledge on the sport of fly fishing. A trip with Jesse is well worth it and entertaining. It's truly the the experience of a lifetime.
"All I want for my clients is for them to experience what it feels like to fight spectacular wild trout, laugh and have fun, and leave with a knowledge and stronger passion for fly fishing and conservation. Thats not to much to ask is it ha..?"
Jesse is a certified fishing guide in the states of Pennsylvania and New York: Licence number - 003-106-960
