On the evening of Thursday, June 1st, in lieu of our regular meeting, several of our members joined together to conduct our annual fly casting clinic.  We partnered with the Passaic County Parks Commission to hold the clinic on the water at Arnold Pond in Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne.  The attendees numbered about 20 and ranged in age from teens to seniors.  Nearly half the group were women and hopefully some will continue their fly fishing education by joining Joan Wulff Fly Fishers.  We were particularly encouraged by the number of teens attending.  The sport which offers us such great rewards, as well as occasional frustration, needs young people to guarantee the future of the sport.
Thank you to all our members who offered their time to help with instructions.   It is at times difficult to teach someone brand new to fly casting but our volunteers persisted.  By the end of the session participants could successfully complete a roll cast and a basic cast.  We expect to continue this annual event on the first Thursday in June.  Please keep it in your long range plans
